Xiamen is a beautiful subtropical bay city with a wealth of golden beaches, parks, ancient temples, museums, and concert halls in the city and its vicinity. Xiamen University, situated at the foot of the green mountains and facing the blue sea, is known as one of the most beautiful campuses in China. The programs are designed so that you can enjoy not only the scenery but also the culture of the city and university.

Sep 24 (one day)
Morning: present the opening ceremony, and then campus tour of Xiamen University. Bird's view of the charming campus on the 21^st floor of Jiageng Building, the Administration Building of Xiamen University. Then visit Anthropology Museum in the campus. Buffet lunch in Lujiang Hotel, which has a nice view of the Gulangyu Islet also known as Piano islet.

Afternoon: stroll and do shopping at Zhongshan Road, the commercial center of Xiamen City, and feel the leisure life. Sightsee around Xiamen city on a double-decker tour bus.

Sep 25 (one day)
Morning: sight-see Xiamen Wanshi Botanical Garden, and experience Chinese traditional Shadow Boxing (Taiji practicing) in the Garden.

After lunch: visit Jimei district, the hometown of the founder of Xiamen University, Mr. Chen Jiageng (also known as Tan Kah Kee).

Sep 26 (one day)
Morning: experience traditional Kungfu Fan on campus. Then visit the famous Buddhism Nanputuo Temple and taste delicious vegetarian food in the temple restaurant.

Afternoon: Conference's Excursion.

The excursion of the conference will be in the afternoon of September 26 to Gulangyu island, the "Garden on the Sea", free to all registered participants (including accompanying persons). This tiny island is accessible by an eight-minute ferryboat from the downtown area. There are many well-known scenic attractions on Gulangyu surrounded by beautiful beaches. The island was the site of the foreign consular residences after Xiamen became one of the five trade ports in the 19th century. Its luxurious green-trees provide shade for the buildings of many different styles, so called as the "International Exhibition Hall of Architecture". The cultural atmosphere of the island is very attractive. Since the residence of the island have a special love for the piano, Gulangyu is also renowned as "Piano Islet". Motor vehicles (even bicycles) are forbidden on the island, hence you will enjoy the atmosphere of peace and sounds of silence there!

Sep 27 (half day)
Morning:
Two optional routes:
1) Those who wish to do shopping please let us know before September 27, the volunteers are ready to guide or accompany you during shopping.
2) Stroll the Plank of Island Ring Road along the beautiful subtropical beach.
