Scientific Program

The scientific program of the conference will begin in the morning of September 24 and end on September 27, 2007. It consists of plenary lectures (45 min.), Keynote lectures (30 min.), invited talks (25 min.), oral presentations (15 min.), poster sessions, and exhibition. Since most of the participants will reside within walking distance to the conference center, we expect lively discussions and a high level of scientific interaction. The official language of the conference is English.

Contributions are invited for oral or poster presentation on subjects within the scopes (including fundamentals, applications, and instrumentations) of following sessions:

Session 1: Atomic Spectrometry (AAS, AES, AFS, Plasma, etc.)
Session 2: Molecular Spectrometry (UV-VIS, IR, Raman, Chemiluminescence/Fluorescence/ Phosphorescence, NMR, etc.)
Session 3: Mass Spectrometry
Session 4: Laser Spectrometry
Session 5: Hyphenated Techniques (with µ-TAS, HPLC, CE, etc.)
Session 6: X-Ray and Synchrotron Spectroscopy
Session 7: Chemometrics

In addition, we are going to organize the following symposia on some hot topics as will be described in the page Symposia Scopes and Organizers:

Symposium 1: Elemental Speciation
Symposium 2: Environmental Analysis
Symposium 3: Frontier of Elemental Mass Spectrometry
Symposium 4: Spectroscopic Sensing of Bio-related Species
Symposium 5: Spectroscopy for Nanomaterials
Symposium 6: Surface-Enhanced Spectroscopy

Note for Speakers

The multimedia projectors will be available in all meeting rooms. Slide and overhead transparency projectors will only be available on request. To save your time for talk and to avoid any unexpected, we strongly recommend you to copy your PPT files to the pre-signed directories and test the compatibility on the day of registration (Sept. 23) or at least one session before the start of your talk in the meeting room computer, please see the announcement on the Notice Board on the day of Registration. If you want to use your own laptop, please check the compatibility of your laptop with the projector in the specific meeting room at least one session before the start of your one. According to our experience, Mac Laptops are not compatible with most prevailing projectors used in China.

If you would prefer to use Velcro, please bring your own supplies. Author should be present at the poster during 4:30-6:00pm for discussion the poster. A panel of judges for poster awards will visit and examine each research poster. Authors must be available for questions during this time.

CSI Award

During the Conference, a CSI XXXV award, sponsored by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd, will be presented to an internationally recognized outstanding scientist with a scientific career of great relevance to spectroscopy. The award will be presented in a ceremony during a specific session and the awardee is expected to give an award lecture.
