Social Programs

All registered participants (including registered accompanying persons) are invited to the following social functions. For those who need special arrangement on the food during reception or banquet (vegetarian meal, Muslim (Halal) food), please notify the organizing committee at your earliest convenience.

Reception (Sunday evening, September 23, free to all registered participants)

This is a great chance to meet friends, old and new, on the first evening preceding the conference. The buffet reception will be sponsored by PerkinElmer and will be held in the Multifunctional Hall of the People’s Hall, the conference venue.

Shimadzu Night (Monday evening, September 24, free to all registered participants and accompanying persons) (New)

Shimadzu Corporation offers a great chance for all participants, including accompanying persons, to taste the local food at Asian Gulf Hotel from 19:00 to 22:00. Shuttle buses will be arranged to take you to the dinning place, which will leave at 18:30 in front of the main entrance of the conference venue.

Cultural Night (Tuesday evening, September 25, free to all registered participants)

At the Main Hall of the conference venue, a culture night consisting of traditional Chinese music and dance performance will be organized.

Excursion (Wednesday afternoon, September 26, free to all registered participants) (New)

The following four optional routes will be organized to meet the interest of different participants. The participants should sign in the desired route on the day of registration.
1. Classic Route
Browsing around Gulangyu Island (“Garden on the Sea” and “Piano Islet”) by boat; Visiting Shuzhuang Garden Scenic Spot including Piano Museum, and enjoying Min’nan Tea Etiquettes Show.
2. Leisure Route
Visiting the charming campus of Xiamen University and famous Nanputuo Temple. Viewing beautiful Island Ring Road and enjoying Min’nan Tea Etiquettes Show.
3. Cultural Route
Visiting the ancient Ciji Palace and traditional Town-Red Brick Buildings. Enjoying Min’nan Tea Etiquettes Show.
4. Colorful Route
Visiting the 6th China International Garden & Flower Expo (CIGF Expo), which is being constructed as “a sustainable water expo with delicate exhibition gardens, a nice scene, a natural and environment-friendly layout, and dense cultural flavors of the Straits”. Enjoying Min’nan Tea Etiquettes Show.

Banquet (Wednesday evening, September 26, Complimentary to all registered participants)

A banquet with traditional Xiamen cuisine will be arranged during the conference to give you a chance to get to know the delicate Chinese foods.

Xiamen cuisine is famous for seafoods, using many cooking techniques including steaming, frying, braising, grilling, and stewing. The best adjectives to describe the local cuisine are fresh, light, appetizing, tender, slightly sour, sweet, and hot. The best local Chinese liquors will be served. During the banquet, best poster presentation awards will be announced.

The originally charge banquet will now be complimentary to all registered participants with the financial support provided by the Xiamen Municipal Government and Xiamen University. Some of the participants have already paid the fee, which will be refunded upon arrival.
